Yin Yoga – 1 Hour 15 mins

Yin yoga  consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer. Yin yoga works on the yin tissues – also known as the connective tissues. Connective tissue responds best to a slow, steady load which is why we hold the poses for longer. If you gently stretch connective tissue by holding a yin pose for a long time in this way, the body will respond by making it a little longer and stronger – which is exactly what you want. Remember, the principle of exercise is to stress the tissue so the body will respond by strengthening it.

Suitable for all yoga practitioners

Roll and Release – 1 Hour

Roll and Release is a combination of myo-facial self massage, using massage balls and Yin yoga. The two techniques go hand in hand to work the bodies connective tissue. Ashtanga – 1 Hour 15 mins

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga, which was developed originally in Mysore India by the late Pattabhi Jois, is a system of Hatha yoga that synchronises breath and movement in a flowing  set sequence of asanas (postures). Each asana has a unique choreographed number of movements into and out of it. When practised regularly, it develops strength, flexibility, stamina and eventually a still and focussed mind. It is ultimately a moving meditation.

Poses (asana) flow one after another in a sequence with each held for a number of breaths (typically 5) breaths before transitioning through a specific series of movements (Vinyasa) to the next pose.  This dynamic practice can lead to an increase in flexibility, strength , balance and an all-round feeling of well being. This practice is for everyone but a generally knowledge in basic yoga postures would be beneficial.

Yoga experience is required.

Qi Gong – 1 Hour

This class is gentle, easy to follow, and suitable for adults of all ages and fitness levels. Qi Gong (pronounced ‘chee gong’) focuses on improving the flow of Qi (Life Force Energy) and helps align the energies of Mind, Heart, Body and Spirit. The first half of the class includes warm-ups and simple stretching exercises, which free up stagnant energy in the body and help release stress, tension and tightness. The second half of class is a “moving meditation”, involving slow, flowing exercises similar to Tai Chi, but less complicated. This class is designed to balance Yin and Yang energy, leaving participants feeling both relaxed and energised.

Suitable  for all practitioners.

Kundalini – 1 Hour 30 mins

Kundalini Yoga is a unique and ancient form of yoga that works with our physical, mental and energetic bodies.  Often referred to as the Yoga of Awareness, in kundalini yoga we are looking to raise our kundalini energy and in doing so increase our consciousness, improve our health and enhance our overall experience of life.

Through applying yogic Science the sages and yogis of old created specific Kriyas – or sets of exercises designed to bring about a specific result.  There are literally thousands of these Kriyas that address everything from the physical – strengthening the navel centre, to the esoteric – experiencing infinity.  Each Kriya is different, but generally speaking they all contain a mix of Asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and Mantra (sacred sound).  By combining breath, sound and posture we immerse ourselves in a full body vibration experience which can lead to profound physical, conscious and sub-conscious shifts taking place.

Kundalini yoga also works to strengthen and balance our nervous and endocrine systems while at the same time, opening our hearts and quieting our minds. Making it a very relevant yoga for today’s society where the constant pressure, environmental toxins and over stimulation have left many of us feeling depleted and disconnected.

Kundalini Yoga is really one of those things that needs to be experienced in order to understand how truly amazing it can be.  So do yourself a favor and give it a go.
